Introduction: Organ dysfunction remains a major cause of morbidity after trauma. The development of organ dysfunction is determined by the inflammatory response, in which neutrophils are important effector cells. A femoral fracture particularly predisposes for the development of organ dysfunction. This study investigated the chronologic relation between neutrophil characteristics and organ dysfunction in trauma patients with a femoral fracture. Methods: Patients with a femoral fracture presenting at the University Medical Center Utrecht between 2007 and 2013 were included. Data of neutrophil characteristics from standard hematological analyzers were recorded on a daily basis until the 28th day of hospital stay or until discharge. Generalized Estimating Equations were used to compare outcome groups. Results: In total 157 patients were analyzed, of whom 81 had polytrauma and 76 monotrauma. Overall mortality within 90 days was 6.4% (n = 10). Eleven patients (7.0%) developed organ dysfu...

Amerikalılar Arası İnsan Hakları Mahkemesi Kararlarında Tatmin - Satisfaction in the Judgments of the Inter-American Court of Human Rights2024 •
Satisfaction, which has been used as one of the methods of repairing the damages caused by the acts of another state contrary to international law, has over time become a component of the processes of repairing the damages arising from the human rights violations of states. The Inter-American Court of Human Rights has established a strong and creative jurisprudence on the reparation of damages arising from human rights violations by strengthening the broad jurisdiction granted to it by Article 63 of the American Convention on Human Rights with the jurisprudence of international liability law. The Court has played an important role in embedding satisfaction in human rights law by interpreting, diversifying and applying it within the context of the specific needs of human rights law. The Court's contribution to human rights law in this respect stems from the fact that satisfaction is more effective in reinforcing social norms of respect for human dignity, compared to compensation, which was the dominant method of reparation in human rights law before the Court’s jurisprudence on satisfaction. This is because satisfaction is an effective legal means of enabling international tribunals, which are outside the social environment in which the violations take place and lack the state’s means of intervention in society, to support the construction of a social environment that will provide the basis for a legal and social order based on human rights before violations occur. The expansion of such contributions to the social environment may also have significant implications for human rights courts' ability to cope with their increasing workloads.

Paillet-Assisi 22. Physics beyond the Standard Model for LENR theory- A survey of String Theory.2022 •
The existence of LENR processes is now well established, by numerous experiments carried out for decades, after the shock wave caused in 1989 by experiment of the famous pioneers S. Pons and M. Fleischmann. However, it is still difficult to develop an adequate theoretical model to explain these processes and contribute to significantly improving them. As LENR theory involves most of the known interactions, it becomes necessary to place oneself within the framework of modern fundamental physics research going beyond the Standard Model (SM). For this purpose, we propose here a survey of string theory. But why string theory (ST) ? - You can retort ST is not a very recent theory, since it was first studied in the late 1960s as a theory of the strong nuclear force and was then abandoned in favor of quantum chromodynamics (QCD). But the links of ST with nuclear interaction are not broken, quite the contrary, particularly thanks to the so-called Anti-de Sitter/Conformal Field Theories (AdS/CFT) duality, a surprising mathematical correspondence between ST and Field theories: it can be applied, by using ST, to solve various problems in QFTs, including some ones intractable by QCD. - Likewise, AdS/CFT can be applied to condensed matter, to study exotic states and quasi-particles. This possibility would be of great interest for LENR research. - ST was developed to reconcile general relativity with quantum mechanics. But it is more than a quantum gravity theory: non only it can represent all particles / interactions of SM, but it also leads to a variety of hypothetical particles beyond the SM. So, it could solve the puzzles arising in SM because of the increasing precision of modern experiments, as well as help to understand LENR.
