The Seven Sleepers/Ashāb al-Kahf tale and cult: two case studies in Turkey (Ephesus) and Jordan (Al-Rajib2023 •
Two case studies, as multisited ethnography, have been conducted concerning the tangible and intangible patrimony of the Seven Sleepers/ Ashāb al-Kahf tale in the territories of Selçuk (Turkey) and Al-Rajib near Amman (Jordan), but also through digital media. This paper intersects the historical data with the ethnographic research, in order to better understand their contemporary representations and their processes of heritagization from an anthropological perspective. The Seven Sleepers/Ashāb al-Kahf tale is religious and cultural heritage shared by Christians and Muslims which crosses borders of time and space.

Possibilities of modern methods of laboratory diagnostics in the study of viral hepatitis A2021 •
It is generally accepted that the course of viral hepatitis A is accompanied by short-term viremia, and the disease itself does not have serious consequences for the person who has recovered. The article describes a clinical case of a protracted course of viral hepatitis A with long-term persistence of the virus. Against the background of the therapy, the patient's condition improved, and by the time of discharge from the hospital on the 38th day of illness and later, with a retrospective examination on the 68th day from the onset of the disease by the method of reverse transcription PCR (RT-PCR in real time), the presence of RNA of the hepatitis A virus was confirmed in feces, which indicated a long persistence of the virus in the body. This observation indicates the need for long-term dispensary observation of patients who have undergone viral hepatitis A.

Oleoylethanolamine and palmitoylethanolamine modulate intestinal permeability in vitro via TRPV1 and PPARα2016 •
Cannabinoids modulate intestinal permeability through CB1 The endocannabinoid-like compounds oleoylethanolamine (OEA) and palmitoylethanolamine (PEA) play an important role in digestive regulation, and we hypothesized they would also modulate intestinal permeability. Transepithelial electrical resistance (TEER) was measured in human Caco-2 cells to assess permeability after application of OEA and PEA and relevant antagonists. Cells treated with OEA and PEA were stained for cytoskeletal F-actin changes and lysed for immunoassay. OEA and PEA were measured by liquid chromatography-tandem mass spectrometry. OEA (applied apically, logEC50 -5.4) and PEA (basolaterally, logEC50 -4.9; apically logEC50 -5.3) increased Caco-2 resistance by 20-30% via transient receptor potential vanilloid (TRPV)-1 and peroxisome proliferator-activated receptor (PPAR)-α. Preventing their degradation (by inhibiting fatty acid amide hydrolase) enhanced the effects of OEA and PEA. OEA and PEA induced cytoskeletal...

It has been exactly 40 years since the publication of one of the earliest ARC issues: Volume 2:1 Archaeology and the Public (1983), emerged from a Theoretical Archaeology Group conference put on by Mike Parker Pearson and others in 1982. Our publication likewise has strong theoretical underpinnings. Archaeology as a discipline has never been more concerned with its positionality within public discourses and its relativity to different segments of the publics. This is because the Information Age has brought with it new challenges with respect to what defines public spaces and who are accepted as authorities in these spaces (Stephens et al 2023). By pluralising the 'public' in our volume title, Archaeology and the PublicS, we hope to demonstrate and highlight the multivocality and diversity inherent in the public-and the opportunities and challenges that come with this diversity.
